The GTCC Writing Center in Jamestown will close at noon on Tuesday, July 22nd.  We will resume services the first week of fall classes in August.

Need help with a writing assignment?  Visit the GTCC Writing Center!

Consultants are available to assist students, faculty, and staff with any writing task--getting ideas, organizing information, finding information, attributing research, resumes, cover letters, grammar, and more!

  • Please bring your writing assignment, a printed draft, notes, and anything else you may need to your session.
  • Sessions are limited to 30 minutes, and tutors can typically discuss about 3 pages of writing in a 30-minute session. Longer assignments may require multiple visits.
  • Group paper or project? Groups must have appointments so we can insure adequate staffing.  When you make the appointment, let us know how many members are in the group and how long the paper or project is.

We also have self-help resources available by clicking the Resources for Students link.

Also, visit our Moodle site for handouts and workshop information.  To self-enroll in the Moodle site, go to Moodle, log in, and scroll down to the search box. Search for Writing Center.  The enrollment key is writingcenter (all lowercase, one word).  After enrolling, you will see the Writing Center listed in your courses. See our tutorial video at http://screencast.com/t/EikZbKfM for help enrolling in the site.

***Note: We no longer offer TurnItIn submissions through our Moodle site. Instructors must create TurnItIn assignments through their course sites. Students without access to TurnItIn through their courses might wish to use a free online plagiarism checker, such as Paper Rater. However, plagiarism and originality checkers are not responsible for submitted work that contains plagiarism. If you want to learn about plagiarism and how to avoid it, visit the Writing Center!
