COVID-19 Travel Procedures

GTCC is currently accepting applications for trips for Summer 2022.  The college will carefully access program viability 120 days prior to the start of any study abroad program based on the criteria discussed below.

Restricted Travel Criteria

  • The U.S. Department of State travel advisory for the host country is at a level 1 or 2
  • CDC travel notice for the host country is at a level 1 or 2
  • GTCC has not implemented a travel restriction policy
  • The host country allows for the entry of student visitors without a quarantine period
  • Host countries may require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter

U.S. Re-Entry Requirements

All air passengers coming to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated peopleare required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months before they board a flight to the United States.

Student Health and Safety Recommendations

  • Per the Study Abroad Participant Agreement signed at the time of application, students are:
    • Expected to comply with local government and host program/institution rules, expectations, and compliance requirements. Behavior or conduct which violates laws or standards could harm the health and the safety of the individual and other program participants.
    • Subject to the GTCC Code of Student Conduct
  • Program participants are expected to follow CDC recommendations.
  • To the extent possible, students should self-quarantine for 14-days prior to departure.
  • If required by the host country, students may be required to complete a COVID-19 test upon arrival
  • After returning from the study abroad experience, students should follow CDC and GTCC guidance upon return to the U.S.

Financial Considerations

In general, students will not receive a refund if the Study Abroad program is set to run within 120 days. Before that point, all money paid directly to the college will be refunded. Please contact your program leader for details.

  • Students will have the option to purchase trip cancellation insurance.
  • Students are individually responsible for any flight change fees or other individually arranged expenses.
  • If you have to quarantine or self-isolate onsite, participants will be individually responsible for any additional expenses, such as housing and meals.
  • GTCC cannot provide refunds for any monies paid to outside entities.
  • While traveling abroad, health insurance will cover the treatment of COVID-19.
