Guilford Technical Community College and employers agree to observe employment practices which conform to:

Career Services strives to reflect the following values in all activities it conducts. It is expected that employer partners will also embrace and comply with these values during all phases of their recruiting process:

  • Education: Career Services and employer partners/agencies encourage students to remain enrolled and in attendance of classes through completion of the student's educational goals.
  • Honesty and Openness: Career Services requires students and employer partners to provide accurate information about employment opportunities. Students and employer partners who intentionally provide dishonest or inaccurate information are no longer eligible to participate in the services provided.
  • Fairness: Career Services requires that employer partners utilize fair hiring practices and comply with equal employment opportunity (EEO) practices in all recruiting activities.
  • Respect: Career Services encourages students, as well as employer partners, to make informed and intelligent employment decisions without undue pressure. Once a decision is made about employment, all parties are encouraged to communicate the decision within a reasonable time frame.
  • Legality: Career Services expects that employer partners will comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations related to labor and employment.
  • Integrity: Career Services expects that employer partners will not seek favorable treatment or special favors as a result of gifts, contributed services, or financial support.
  • Accountability: Career Services collects information from employer partners about their recruitment activities in order to document how Career Services activities meet the needs of students and customers.

Career Services hosts on-campus recruiting events throughout the year, as well as an annual career fair.

  • Employers wishing to conduct on-campus recruiting events must contact Career Services to gain permission and schedule an appropriate date, time and location. These events should be scheduled at least one week in advance of the desired date to allow sufficient time to market the events and make logistical arrangements.
  • Eligible employers are invited to visit campus up to two times per month. Each employer that recruits at GTCC must complete required paperwork.
  • Employers conducting on-campus recruiting cannot have any up front associated costs for students related to the students being employed or being considered for employment. This includes but is not limited to membership fees; start up fees; fees for lessons or training; licensing fees, portfolio fees, placement fees; and the purchase of tools, samples, or sales kits.
  • Employers who recruit on-campus must offer paid opportunities and have a traditional “employer-employee” relationship in which there are no fees associated with becoming an intern or employee of the organization, other than professional licensure fees for career employees that may be necessary to be paid by employee.
  • On-campus recruitment activities cannot be combined with the marketing and/or sale of products or services to students.
  • Direct sales organizations, network marketing organizations, pyramid schemes, distributorships and other business opportunities are not eligible for on-campus recruiting.
  • Employers who wish to come to campus to recruit for commission only opportunities must offer employee benefits.
  • Representatives recruiting for a higher education institution must be human resources professionals and agree to recruit only for paid employment positions, not potential students.
  • Career Services reserves the right to decline on-campus recruiting and career fair registration to employers who have failed to meet their payment and attendance obligations for past career events.
  • Guilford Technical Community College promotes an environment free from harassment. Prior to scheduling an on-campus recruiting visit, please review our Title IX Policies and Procedures to ensure that your organization is conducting itself in an appropriate manner at our campuses.
