Lisa Stahlmann Jessar named chair of GTCC board of trustees

Lisa Stahlmann Jessar was recently named chair of the Guilford Technical Community College board of trustees. Jessar has been a member of the board of trustees since 2013.
Jessar is the executive director of NC Global Leadership, where she oversees the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program for North Carolina.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as chair of GTCC’s board of trustees,” shared Jessar. “As chair, my priority will be to keep students at the center of what we do and continue to grow our workforce partnerships. I look forward to working with Dr. Clarke, my fellow trustees, and our faculty and staff to strengthen opportunities for students and keep GTCC a strong partner for the Triad’s future.”
Prior to her current role she served as a commercial loan officer with the U.S. Small Business Administration. In that position she led critical initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also managed a team of loan specialists, conducting financial analyses and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines.

Jessar was also a member of the High Point city council, serving as the body’s liaison to the High Point Chamber of Commerce board. She also served as a commissioner on the High Point Housing Authority board.
She has served on the board of NC Global Leadership, Guilford Education Alliance, Guilford Child Watch, and Guilford Child Development.
Jessar has a bachelor’s degree in international relations and business from The American University in Washington, D.C., a project management certification from the University of California, Irvine and is pursuing a master’s in public administration at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
