Please visit www.ncresidency.org to complete the residency application process. When you finish the residency determination form, be sure to write down your assigned Residency Certification Number (RCN).  You will need to enter your RCN on the GTCC admission application in step 2.

After you submit your application through CFNC, use the Application Status website to monitor your application status.

We recommend that all students apply for financial aid, which includes scholarships, Pell grants, and other grants. Visit the GTCC Financial Aid website to complete the FAFSA or get more information.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Submit all official high school, college, Advanced Placement (AP), and military transcripts to the GTCC Admissions Office.

If you’re not sure if you need a placement test or not, please review the waiver requirements.

If you're still unsure, contact the Admissions Office which will determine if you need a placement test. There are several ways to reach our admissions department:

  • Send an email to admissions@gtcc.edu.
  • Enter your cell number on our Admissions Callback Queue to receive a response by phone. (Callback queue is open 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.)
  • Stop by a campus location for a walk-in visit. You can enter a virtual queue for each campus and check wait times at our QLess Virtual Lines page.

About 48 hours after completing your application in step 2, you will be able to activate your GTCC Titan AccountPlease check your personal email to obtain your GTCC email address or contact records@gtcc.edu. Your initial password will be your date of birth in (MMDDYY) format.

Once you have activated your Student Account (Titan Account) in Step 6, complete the online Orientation.  This is a short welcome and introduction to GTCC.

Once you’ve completed Orientation, the next step is to sign up for your First Advising session.  In this session you will learn how to register for classes, receive information about resources that are available at GTCC, and work with a Student Success Coach to develop your college plan. Click the First Advising link below, log in, and complete the brief information sheet so that you will be given accurate advising information.

You have options on how you would like to complete this process.  You may have a virtual one-on-one session with a Coach or you may come to one of the three campuses as a walk-in for a face-to-face session with a Coach.

In order to sign up for your First Advising session, please click on the box and hit submit. It will then prompt you to enter your information to register. Once you have registered, your information will be sent to an academic advisor who will reach out to you to schedule your First Advising session. Note: If you are interested in registering for an online class, you will need to complete the Online Success Seminar.  The Online Success Seminar takes 30-45 minutes to complete and will provide you with beneficial information about being an online student at GTCC. The course will help you determine ways to prepare for online learning and how to navigate GTCC’s online environment. After completing the seminar with a course total of 100, there may be a waiting period of up to one business day (Monday through Friday) before your student account is updated.

After your record has been updated, you are welcome to register for your online course; however GTCC students are highly encouraged to work with an Academic Advisor in order to "MAP" out a program course completion plan once the online seminar is completed.
