A pair of longtime Guilford Technical Community College Foundation donors were honored by the Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Monday.
Rhonda Anderson, an active donor and board member of the GTCC Foundation, was named AFP’s Champion of Diversity.
Honda Aircraft Company, which has been a longtime sponsor of GTCC Foundation’s annual golf tournament, and has employed over 100 GTCC alumni, was named the AFP’s Outstanding Business in Philanthropy.
Anderson is the president and CEO of the YMCA of Greensboro and has also served in leadership roles with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, The Community YMCA, and Cathedral International, as well as management positions with Fortune 500 companies like Johnson & Johnson and Simon & Schuster.
“Ms. Anderson embodies the spirit of this award through her steadfast commitment to leadership and community impact throughout her distinguished career,” said Sybil Newman, GTCC college advancement officer, who nominated Anderson for the award.
Anderson serves on the NC State Alliance of YMCA board, the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, and the Greensboro Sports Council.
Since 2015, Honda Aircraft Company has served as the presenting sponsor of the GTCC Foundation Golf Tournament, contributing over $110,000 in student scholarships while participating with staff who mentor students and faculty.
“GTCC is proud to support Honda Aircraft Company through aviation programs that prepare skilled professionals for its operations in the Triad,” said Sybil Newman, college advancement officer. “In turn, Honda Aircraft Company’s ongoing sponsorship of our annual golf tournament has enabled GTCC students to pursue their educational and career goals within the aviation industry.”
The AFP Triad Chapter promotes professionalism and accountability in philanthropic fundraising. It serves fundraising executives across the Triad, offering educational programs, networking opportunities, and industry expertise.
