Guilford Technical Community College has been approved as a member of the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) and is now designated as an Authorized Certification Assessment Center.
The goal of the certification is to expand the college’s ability to prepare students for rapidly growing Industry 4.0 careers.
Additional student benefits include no fee to take the certification exam; certifications that may be used as proficiency credit toward select college programs; and the ability for students scoring 69 or below to retake the exam within 24 hours.
Industry 4.0 represents the fourth industrial revolution, merging physical production with digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and data-driven systems. Jobs in this sector require a blend of mechanical, digital, and analytical skills that are increasingly in demand across manufacturing, logistics, and technology-driven industries.
“Becoming a SACA Authorized Certification Assessment Center strengthens GTCC’s commitment to meeting immediate workforce needs in our region,” said GTCC President Anthony Clarke, Ph.D. “These certifications give our students a competitive edge and help employers access the highly skilled talent they need to grow.”
Through this new partnership, GTCC now offers SACA Industry 4.0 certifications aligned with six GTCC courses:
- Electrical Systems 1
- Electric Motor Control Systems 1
- Pneumatic Systems 1
- Pneumatic Troubleshooting 1
- Mechanical Power Systems 1
- Mechanical Power Systems 2
For most classes, except Mechanical Power Systems 1 and 2, only one foundational course must be completed before students attempt the SACA assessment.
SACA is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and deploying Industry 4.0 certifications to help increase the number of students with advanced technical skills, ensure companies have highly skilled workers, and prepare learners to succeed in the evolving digital manufacturing landscape.
