GTCC student athletes honored for athletic, academic success

Guilford Technical Community College student athletes were recently honored at a banquet for their athletic and academic performances during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
More than 60 GTCC students were recognized for academic and athletic achievements by the college, including several record-breaking performances.
Men’s basketball player Nikel Rodgers was honored for setting a National Junior College Athletic Association record with 17 3‑pointers in a single game. Baseball player Elijah Grant broke two GTCC records, scoring 65 runs (previous record: 54) and hitting 15 home runs (previous record: 14). The Titans baseball team also set a new program record with 417 runs, surpassing the previous mark of 410.
Earning All Region 10 honorable mention for women’s basketball are Nevaeh Dobson and Roselyn Sanchez. Representing the men’s basketball team with an All Region 10 honorable mention is Nikel Rodgers. Isabell Berhe and Bailey Dutton were named to the women’s basketball Academic All-Region team.

To be named to the NJCAA Region 10 All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have participated in a sport which competes within the academic year and have achieved a 3.0 grade point average while passing 12 credit hours.
Earning Region 10 All-Academic honors were volleyball players: Haleigh Baity, Palika Chang, Kimberly Ford, Sophia Lindley, Olivia Martinez, Lauren McCain, Sidney Simone Moore and Summer Terhune; women’s basketball players: Isabell Berhe, Bailey Dutton, Jewel Pass and Roselyn Sanchez; men’s basketball players: Mohamed Abdeldayem, Mike Cade, Osiris Peralta and Nikel Rodgers; baseball players: Grady Barnes, Timothy Barry, Alec Brown, Joseph Buckley, Zachary Cartrette, Elliot Flowers, Dawson Futrell, Colin Georger, Griffin Hurt, Carmine Lancaster, Eron Lewis, Trajan Louis, David Mertz. Nicholas Michaelides, Ryan Robinson and Dylan Rose; and esports players: Cristobal Aranda, Yasmen Brooks, Rose Calamba, Lesly Jacinto, Ke'jon Jones, Long Le, Khoa Nguyen, Daniel Mobley, Isabella Marin, John Paredes, Jonathan Rodriguez, Keturah Shelton, Felix Sifuentes, Brandon Villanueva, Redden West and Brooklyn York-Williams.
