Sebastian King, Crystabelle Nwameme and Monica Walker, appointed to GTCC board of trustees

Sebastian King, Crystabelle Nwameme, and Monica Walker have been appointed to the Guilford Technical Community College board of trustees.
King, a former GTCC student, owns his own federal lobbying firm, King and Co. He is also a partner at Elevation Strategies, a lobbying firm. He earned an associate degree from Lone Star Community College in Texas and his Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University.
King was appointed to the GTCC board of trustees by the North Carolina Senate.
“As a former GTCC student, I know firsthand how GTCC impacts those who pursue higher education here,” said King. “Attending GTCC prepared me for my time at Lone Star Community College and Texas A&M and helped ensure a successful college experience. Today, as consultant that works across North Carolina, I know the immense value GTCC brings to supplying skilled workers for the Triad and beyond. I look forward to serving on the GTCC board of trustees and being a part of this stellar institution once again.”
Walker retired from Guilford County Schools as its diversity officer and currently operates Groundwater Institute where she hosts racial equity workshops across the country. She was appointed to the board of trustees by the Guilford County Commissioners.
“I am a firm believer that education is a pathway to opportunity,” said Walker. “As a member of the GTCC of trustees, I will continue to advocate on behalf of the college to provide affordable, equitable, and quality higher education opportunities without barriers, ensuring that postsecondary education remains within reach for all students.”
Both King and Walker will serve a four-year term.
Crystabelle Nwameme is serving her second term as a GTCC Student Government Association officer and, now as president, will also serve on the GTCC Board of Trustees as the college’s student representative.
“I am excited to serve on the GTCC board of trustees,” Nwameme said. “Seeing how the current board of trustees comes together and makes big decisions for a community like GTCC will inspire me to do the same within SGA and any initiatives.”
Nwameme was named GTCC’s 2026 North Carolina Community College System Academic Excellence Award recipient and represented the college at the annual awards ceremony. After graduating from GTCC with her Associate in Science degree in spring 2027, Nwameme plans to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to pursue a career in finance.
