Astrophysicist to Give Talk On Supernovae April 21

JAMESTOWN, N.C. —Guilford Technical Community College will host its 2017 Stellar Society Lecture 7 p.m. Friday, April 21 in the Joseph S. Koury Hospitality Careers Center auditorium on GTCC’s Jamestown Campus, 601 E. Main St., Jamestown.
The talk will be given by North Carolina State University physics professor, Stephen P. Reynolds, who received N.C. State’s 2012 Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching. Reynolds’ talk, “Supernovae and You: Tracking Stellar explosions Through Their Remnants,” will discuss his research findings on the remnants of recent Galactic supernovae.
GTCC’s 2017 Stellar Society Lecture is an official 2017 North Carolina Science Festival (NCSF) event and is among hundreds of community-based events that are showcasing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities for N.C. citizens during April. Cline Observatory will be open after the talk, weather permitting, as part of the NCSF’s Statewide Star Party.
