JAMESTOWN, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2025) – Today, Guilford Technical Community College opened its new cosmetology space on its Jamestown Campus.
Originally in the Career Services Building, the new cosmetology space is located in the Machinery Hall Building. The 14,000-plus-square-foot facility houses 60 cosmetology stations and chairs, 10 esthetician beds, eight manicure stations, and four spa pedicure chairs.
“We’re blown away with the final results of our new cosmetology space,” said GTCC President Anthony Clarke, Ph.D. “The faculty, staff and crews worked very hard to design and pull together a state-of-the-art space for our students and the community to enjoy. We’re also excited to receive a 100, a perfect score, on the facility’s accreditation/inspection.”
In addition to offering current educational opportunities for cosmetology certificates, diplomas, and instructor training, GTCC will also provide training in manicuring/nail technology and esthetics starting in the fall semester of this year.
“Our students are really enjoying this fresh, modern space to pursue their career goals in cosmetology, while the instructors are delighted to teach in the new space," said GTCC Cosmetology Program Director LaTia Hairston. Most of our students go on to pursue a N.C. Cosmetology license with some even launching their own salon after completing our program.”
The new space is also open to the community, allowing cosmetology students real-world experience in providing a variety of hair and beauty services. Appointments are not accepted; walk-ins are welcomed. For more information on the GTCC salon, visit gtcc.edu/salon.
