Sarah Oakley figures working a little overtime in the classroom now is going to save her a lot of time down the road. The 17-year-old Oakley is a senior at Southwest Guilford High School and will graduate in the spring. But she is also on schedule to graduate from Guilford Technical Community College this year. She enrolled in the college’s Career and College Promise program in 2019 and since has simultaneously taken both high school and college classes.

Transitioning from in-class to distance learning can be challenging. Especially if you don’t have a reliable computer or electronic device. Titan Link, GTCC’s services support program that helps students with life issues that arise outside the classroom, recognized there would be a need among students as the college prepared for remote learning in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak last month.

Hudson earned his associate degree in Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology from GTCC in 2012.

Standing at the crossroads of a career she knew and a desire to blaze her own path, Diane Summerville chose the road less traveled when she started her own business. With coaching from Guilford Technical Community College’s Small Business Center, she founded New Day Transitions, Inc., a move management firm that helps seniors transition from the homes they have known and loved to a smaller home or retirement community.
