GTCC student athletes honored for athletic, academic success

JAMESTOWN, N.C. (May 7, 2025) – Guilford Technical Community College student athletes were recently honored at a reception for their athletic and academic performances during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
Fifty one GTCC students were recognized for academic and athletic achievements by the college with Deuce Ford being named All Region 10 first team in men’s basketball, and Zoe Davis named All Region 10 third team in women’s basketball.
“We have a lot of talented and hard-working student-athletes in all our programs. They continually excel in their sport and in the classroom,” said Kirk Chandler, GTCC’s athletic director.
To be named to the NJCAA Region 10 All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have participated in a sport which competes within the academic year and have achieved a 3.0 grade point average while passing 12 credit hours.
Earning Region 10 All-Academic honors were volleyball players: Haleigh Baity, Palika Chang, Carson Simmerson, and Jocelynn Thompson; women’s basketball players: Amera Alexander, Zoe Davis, Kayla Reynolds, Tovia Rooks, and Jocelynn Thompson; men’s basketball players: Christian Cole, Aiden Daves, and Nikel Rodgers; baseball players: Manny Cordova, Colin Georger, GeSean Hardy, Gerald Hardy Jr., Carmine Lancaster, Canyon Pennington, Wyatt Schaffer, Shansuke Suzuki, and Cooper Whitley; and esports players: Isaac Allen, Christopher Anast, Nicolas Arroyo, Max Ayala Mata, William Bennett, Lane Brann, Kayo Caswall, Edgar Cortez Galeana, Tristan Fox, Giovany Gonzalez-Pineda, Ryan Guruwo, Avery Hall, Aung Htet, Long Le, Carter Long, Andrew Martin, Aiden McMullen, Darrell Mugara, Austin Rachael, Alexander Rodriguez, Samantha Saavedra, Jonathan Saltarin, Felix Sifuentes, Jay' Ron Smith, DeShawn Surgeon, and Brooklyn York-Williams.
