GTCC turfgrass program gains industry attention
Published on: June 25, 2026
“Over the past three years, turfgrass is one of the many programs that has benefited from the enrollment growth at GTCC,” says department chair Chris Sizemore.
Guilford Technical Community College’s Turfgrass Management Technology program is gaining momentum as expert instructors, growing enrollment and expanded industry connections help prepare students for careers in golf course management, athletic field maintenance, landscaping and related turfgrass industries.
Based at GTCC’s Greensboro campus, the program offers students the opportunity to earn an associate degree, a turfgrass maintenance certificate, or both. With instructors Justin King and Jody Stancil bringing real-world experience from golf course equipment management, horticulture and turfgrass operations, GTCC is strengthening hands-on training while helping meet workforce needs across the region.
