Students Shine

Students Shine is a program all about students showing off their hard work, skills, and talents. Once a year, the program hosts Students Shine Presentation Day, which provides an opportunity to showcase excellence in academic, technical, and/or professional projects and contributions created by students, usually within their courses, with a focus on the involvement and support of faculty sponsors.

This year's event is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 10 in Medlin Campus Center, second floor. Click for more information.

Students Shine Presentation Day

Requirements for application

Guidelines

  • Student work that is deemed outstanding by the faculty in an academic or technical field.
  • Exemplary student work that has already been graded. Student Shine Presentation Day is a chance to show off students’ work, not to grade or judge it.
  • Clubs and/or club members are invited to submit applications as long as the presentation showcases an academic or technical accomplishment in a curriculum area and a faculty sponsor supports this accomplishment.
  • Sponsoring faculty should be involved with the project described in the application.

Types of participation

  • Presentation: Oral delivery of materials related to the project that can include visual aids/multimedia. (Presentations are in 15-minute blocks.)
  • Exhibit: Display the project and be prepared to explain the content and answer audience questions.
  • Demonstration: Show the process required to create the project.
  • Videos: Recorded processes involving students producing/demonstrating outstanding work usually in the technical fields (30-minute time-slot – maybe 15-minute video then 15-minute Q&A or explanation).
