Mechatronics Engineering Technology
The Mechatronics Engineering Technology program is designed to produce highly sought-after multi-skilled maintenance technicians for the manufacturing and industrial industry. These technicians maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair the automated systems that are critical to the manufacturing and industrial world. Your employment opportunities are very diverse and range across all the manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical and food process industries that are very needed in the Greensboro Triad region as well as the state of North Carolina, and beyond.
Job titles range from industrial maintenance technicians, mechatronics technicians, robotics technicians, instrumentation technicians, field service engineers, automation technicians and many others. You will obtain skills in electrical and mechanical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC), robot programming, motor control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), hydraulics/pneumatics, mechanisms, automation and industry 4.0 devices and networks.
This degree will provide life-long opportunities across multiple industries and can also be a steppingstone to furthering your career as a technician and provide you with a path to advance the automation, engineering, industrial and manufacturing industries. Program credits also are accepted by some Engineering Technology programs at some four-year schools in the state.

Anyone can apply to the program, but depending on your previous education, you may need to take a placement test as part of the application process.
Presently, you will only need to purchase textbooks and lab manuals.
Typically, the courses are scheduled during the day, but we may schedule some in the evening depending on the needs of the program and students.
We receive job opportunities for students almost every week, and our graduates have a high placement rate into local employment.
Yes, there are many cross-over courses in the Electrical Systems Technology program. Please see a program faculty member to discuss this option.
