Digital Media Technology

The Digital Media Technology program at GTCC prepares students for careers in digital design and multimedia by combining creative problem-solving with hands-on training in current and emerging technologies. Students learn to plan and create digital user experiences (apps, websites, etc.), and multimedia (video, audio, animation, graphics, etc.), while developing skills in visual communication, critical thinking, and human-centered thinking.

Students can pursue an AAS degree in Digital Media Technology or a certificate, each with an emphasis on practical applications aligned to industry standards. AAS degree students build the necessary skills for roles in digital design, user interface design, digital product design, user experience design, creative content, social media, digital marketing, motion graphics, video editing, and multimedia production. The Content Creation Certificate serves professionals working in graphic design, entertainment, educational media, marketing, business, and IT, as well as post‑associate and post‑baccalaureate learners, and prepares them to design, produce, and manage digital content for social media, communications, web, and multimedia campaigns. The User Experience (UX) Design Certificate serves professionals working in graphic design, business, marketing, IT, and computer programming, as well as post‑associate and post‑baccalaureate learners, by building skills in human-centered thinking, UX research and testing, and user interface (UI) design to create effective digital experiences.

Whether you’re drawn to storytelling through video, animation, and motion graphics, or you’re a creative problem‑solver who wants to map user journeys, prototype interfaces, and test ideas with real people, this program takes you from passion to professional practice. If content creation and social media excite you, you’ll plan and produce short‑form videos, graphics, and campaigns. If you’re curious about how digital products work, you’ll turn research into wireframes and interactive prototypes, collaborate with team members, and refine designs through usability testing. If you thrive at the intersection of creativity and strategy, you’ll craft brand stories and digital experiences, and graduate with a portfolio that helps connect your interests to today’s creative tech careers.
