The aviation industry depends on skilled avionics professionals for installation, maintenance, inspection and testing of all of the electrical systems on modern aircraft. With Aviation Electronics (Avionics) Technology training, you will acquire the knowledge you need to work for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) companies, or for airplane or equipment manufacturers.

This program gives you hands-on experience with every aspect of avionics, from basic equipment to the latest Flight Line Test Equipment. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of area companies, such as: Honda Aircraft, Textron Aviation, Signature Techniair, HAECO MRO, and Piedmont Aviation. In addition, you’ll find that the skills you gain through the program are also highly sought after in industries outside of aviation.

Course work for our two-year AAS and diploma programs covers a comprehensive range of general aviation maintenance, sheet metal, airframe systems, electrical and electronic systems, practical wiring, navigation equipment, flight management and flight control systems, flight line testing and troubleshooting as well as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. The Aviation Electronics (Avionics) Technology program will also prepare you for industry certifications such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and General-Radiotelephone Operator’s License (GROL).

As an alternative, you can choose to pursue a Modern Aviation Electronics Certificate, which is a two-part program designed to provide you with knowledge and skills relating to newer aircraft.
