Human Resources Generalist

These course will teach your Human Resources professional how to identify and understand the requirements for each of the key employment laws (FMLA, ADA/AA, PDA, GINA, and ADEA) and how to provide information to assist in compliance. Students also will learn about health and safety, compensation, coaching, OSHA, and investigation practices.

Schedule:  Two four-hour sessions, total eight hours

HR Generalist I is for any human resources professional wanting to make a positive impact on their employee relations and understanding of their accountability.

Schedule: Two four-hour sessions, total eight hours

HR Generalist II is an experiential journey into the day-to-day activities of human resources. Using case studies prepared in advance, as well as situations presented by class participants, this course is designed to be a hands-on application to further develop skills and core competencies each HR professional needs.

Class objectives are:

  • to better understand the application of HR strategies within organizations of various sizes,
  • to develop techniques for handling needed employee conversations as an HR Professional,
  • to explore a delicate situation in employment law,
  • to create a culture of continuous learning and development for all levels of the organization.

We also will be exploring:

  • employee relations with onboarding techniques,
  • writing policies and procedures,
  • the difference between coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action.

With added case studies, you will explore scenarios to practice handling needed conversations and covering sexual harassment.
