Guilford Technical Community College is pleased to offer a variety of lifelong leisure learning and personal enrichment courses to get you started or enhance your knowledge of gardening, landscaping, and home décor. If you are interested in decorating or improving the look of your home, we have the classes for you.
Current Courses
Furniture Reupholstery
This course is designed to teach students the basics of how to reupholster chairs and other small pieces of furniture. Learn how to sew cushions, skirts, and all covers for reupholstery; how to tie and retie springs; how to brace frame; and how to secure the webbing. Also included will be fabric layout and cutting. Bring to the first class: a pair of regular pliers, tack puller (buy at a hardware store), a "small project" (footstool or dining room chair, etc.), and fabric. A list of other needed tools will be provided at the first class. The supply cost is around $60-$80.

Interior Design
This course is designed to help you plan and create a beautiful and functional interior on a budget, no matter the size or shape of the room. By the end of the course, you will be able to create a decorating plan for your space and budget and learn how to coordinate colors, textures, fabrics, flooring, paint, lighting, and accessories.
This class will be held virtually in Microsoft Teams, and students will be required to have access to a desktop/laptop computer with a camera and a microphone. Microsoft Teams will also need to be downloaded.

Residential Landscaping
This course is designed to help novice and experienced students learn the correct methods for complete landscape choices, installation, and maintenance. This course is updated as new methodology and information are published and is taught from a research-based position.
This class is held virtually in Microsoft Teams, and students will be required to have access to a desktop/laptop computer with a camera and a microphone. Microsoft Teams will also need to be downloaded.
