Introduction to Windows 10 and OneDrive 

(This course will be delivered in an online instructional format using the Learning Management System (LMS) for Continuing Education Moodle for content delivery)

You will learn to navigate Windows 10, OneDrive, and customize the desktop. Learn to manage, search and organize files and folders.  A basic introduction to the OneDrive software programs (Outlook, Word Excel, and PowerPoint). See what new tools and techniques are available by using these common applications.  Having taken this course, you will be prepared to take other computer classes with confidence!

 Photoshop CC

(This course will be delivered in an online instructional format using the Learning Management System (LMS) for Continuing Education Moodle for content delivery)

This course is designed as an introduction to photographic enhancement techniques and terminology using Photoshop CC.  In this course, you will learn to use tools for selecting parts of images, move, duplicate and resize images. You will learn to use layers, layer effects, filters, painting and blending, and color modification. The instructor suggests that you get a textbook but does not require you to have one.

Excel 2016 Introduction 

(This course will be delivered in an online instructional format using the Learning Management System (LMS) for Continuing Education Moodle for content delivery)

Excel? What is it all about? Jumpstart your career by mastering financial spreadsheets by exploring the Excel 2016 interface and features.  Learn to enter, edit, sort and filter data, write and edit formulas and apply basic formatting for legibility.  Learn to manage multiple worksheets, sort and filter, create charts, simple functions and organize large amounts of data using absolute, relative, mixed cell referencing, and named ranges.

Excel 2016 Intermediate

(This course will be delivered in an online instructional format using the Learning Management System (LMS) for Continuing Education Moodle for content delivery)

Do you know that there is more to Excel, yet hesitant to explore?  Information will be presented in a structured systematic format. You will learn intermediate formulas, functions and calculations including conditional formatting, nested functions, and 3D references to link workbooks and worksheets.  Explore the power of CONCATENATE, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, arrays, and the quick analysis totals. Prerequisite:  Beginning Excel 2013, Excel 2016 or comparable experience.

PC Troubleshooting & Repair I
Learn to diagnose, identify, and repair failing components of personal computers. Topics include diagnostic techniques for identifying hardware and Windows related problems and repair. Learn the techniques used in determining when updates and upgrades are appropriate. This is a hands-on class emphasizing the diagnoses and repair of personal computers. The course does not require a textbook.

Google IT Support Professional Certificate (NEW)

(This course will be taught in a blended format with a combination of face-to-face and online instruction)

The Google IT Support Professional Certificate is being offered as a hybrid training program developed by Google that teaches the foundational skills needed for an entry-level job in IT support. A job in IT can mean in-person or remote help desk work, either in a small business or at a global company. IT support is a fast-growing field, and the national median salary is over $52,000 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Based on the training that Google developed to prepare its own IT support staff, this certificate program consists of 175 hours of training covering five modules. The modules key topics: troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security. Training includes a dynamic mix of lectures, quizzes and hands-on labs and widgets.

This hybrid training course will be taught over a period of 19 weeks. Students will be required to attend class one evening per week for three (3) hours on campus for instructor-led lectures AND will also be required to complete six (6) hours of independent online coursework per week, outside of the classroom.

CompTIA A+: A Comprehensive Approach

Certification Exam Target:  220-1001 and 220-1002

(This course will be taught in a blended format with a combination of face-to-face instruction and online instruction)

If you are getting ready for a career as an entry-level information technology (IT) professional or personal computer (PC) service technician, the CompTIA® A+® course is the first step in your preparation. The course will build on your existing user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware to present fundamental skills and concepts that you will use on the job. In this course, you will acquire the essential skills and information you will need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems.

The CompTIA A+ course can benefit you in two ways:   Whether you work or plan to work in a mobile or corporate environment where you have a high level of face-to-face customer interaction, where client communication and client training are important, or in an environment with limited customer interaction and an emphasis on hardware activities, this course provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be a successful A+ technician. It can also assist you if you are preparing to take the CompTIA A+ certification examinations, objectives (exam numbers 220-1001, 220-1002), in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.  Prerequisite: None.

Comp TIA Network+ Certification

(This course will be taught in a blended format with a combination of face-to-face and online instruction)

This courses is intended for entry-level computer support professionals with a basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of networking concepts and acquire the required skills to prepare for a career in network support or administration, or who wish to prepare for the CompTIA Network+ certification. A typical student taking the CompTIA® Network+® (Exam N10-007) course should have a minimum of nine months of professional computer support experience as a PC or help desk technician.

After taking this course, students will understand the field of network security and how it relates to other areas of information technology. This course also provides the broad-based knowledge necessary to prepare for further study in specialized security fields, or it can serve as a capstone course that introduces the field.

Prerequisite: Networking experience is helpful but not mandatory; A+ certification or equivalent skills and knowledge is helpful but not mandatory.

CompTIA Security +/Cybersecurity Analyst Certification Bundle (New)

Certification Exam Target: CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 and CompTIA CySA+ CSO-001

(This course will be taught in a blended format, a combination of face-to-face and online instruction.)

The CompTIA Security+ certification is mainly targeted to those candidates who want to build their career in IT Security domain. The CompTIA Security+ exam verifies that the candidate possesses the fundamental knowledge and proven skills in the area of CompTIA Security Plus. A typical student taking the course CompTIA Security +/Cybersecurity Analyst Bundle should have completed CompTIA® Network+® (Exam N10-007).

Cyber threat detection requires specific training that is currently in high demand in any size organization of any type industry. Today’s job market has openings that requires security analyst skills. This course will be structured toward the CompTIA CySA+, CSO-001 exam materials.

CompTIA cybersecurity exam subject matter will be enforced in the classroom and outside of classroom by SME:  Threat Management, Vulnerability Management, Cyber Incident Response, Security Architecture and Tool Sets.

There are no prerequisites for this course, although it is recommended having at least CompTIA Network+, Security+ or equivalent experience.

Hybrid is a combination of Face-to-Face (F2F) and Online learning.  Students must be present the first day of class.

If you are new to computers, you will want to start with an introduction class such as “Introduction to Computers” or “Introduction to Windows 10 and OneDrive.”  Our computer classes are designed for beginners, unless otherwise started, such as Intermediate, Advanced or Professional Computer Technology Certifications.

Unless otherwise noted in the individual course description, a textbook and flash drive are required for each computer training class.  Books may be purchased at the bookstore of the campus where the class is being held prior to the class start date. Here is a link to the GTCC Bookstore.

 

For successful course completion, a student must attend 80% of the class hours.

CEU’s are typically calculated at 10% of the course contact hours. If you are seeking CEU credits, confirm with your licensing issuer if the courses you have chosen meet the needed CEU credit requirement.

Coming Spring 2019 GTCC Pearson VUE Testing Centers will be offering select testing.

GTCC will make a 100% refund of registration fees if you officially withdraw from class before the first class meeting.

GTCC will refund 75% of the registration fee (tuition only) if you officially withdraw from classes on the first day of class or before the class reaches the 10% point. The 10% point varies from class to class.

If a class is canceled or full, GTCC will automatically process a full refund. Refunds are processed on a monthly basis and may take 4 to 6 weeks.

The college refund policy is established by state legislative action and is subject to change without prior notice to students.
