Introduction to Windows 10 and OneDrive 

You will learn to navigate Windows 10, OneDrive, and customize the desktop. Learn to manage, search and organize files and folders.  A basic introduction to the OneDrive software programs (Outlook, Word Excel, and PowerPoint). WordPress powers millions of blogs and websites. Learn to create your own with this powerful publishing platform. You learn to get the most out of the self-hosted version of WordPress and create feature-rich blogs and websites. This class explains how to create and publish posts and pages; customize your site with themes, widgets, and custom menus; and extend WordPress even further with plugins.

 Photoshop CC
This course is designed as an introduction to photographic enhancement techniques and terminology using Photoshop CC.  In this course, you will learn to use tools for selecting parts of images, move, duplicate and resize images. You will learn to use layers, layer effects, filters, painting and blending, and color modification. The instructor suggests that you get a textbook but does not require you to have one.

Photoshop CC Intermediate 
We will turn you into a more serious Photoshop user by covering in depth:  Alpha channels, paths, layers and masks / Using Actions and other automated features / Creating vector paths, editing paths, and using paths for masking.  The instructor suggests that you get a textbook but does not require you to have one.

Excel 2016 Introduction 
Excel? What is it all about? Jumpstart your career by mastering financial spreadsheets by exploring the Excel 2016 interface and features.  Learn to enter, edit, sort and filter data, write and edit formulas and apply basic formatting for legibility.  Learn to manage multiple worksheets, sort and filter, create charts, simple functions and organize large amounts of data using absolute, relative, mixed cell referencing, and named ranges.

Excel 2016 Intermediate
Do you know that there is more to Excel, yet hesitant to explore?  Information will be presented in a structured systematic format. You will learn intermediate formulas, functions and calculations including conditional formatting, nested functions, and 3D references to link workbooks and worksheets.  Explore the power of CONCATENATE, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, arrays, and the quick analysis totals. Prerequisite:  Beginning Excel 2013, Excel 2016 or comparable experience.

Introduction to Programming with Python
This course teaches the basic concepts of computer programming. The course is for beginning programmers and will teach the basic concepts of all programming languages. The language chosen for this course is Python, a flexible, easy to understand language for beginners. Topics included in this course are the software, hardware, interacting with software to produce simple programs using computations and numbers. Additional topics include objects and graphics, working with lists and files, functions, and loops. This course will prepare students to continue on more advanced programming languages.

 Introduction to SQL
SQL is the standard language for accessing and manipulating databases. Learn to execute queries, insert, delete, and update and retrieve records from a database. This class will focus on learning the commands necessary to successfully work with relational database management systems.

SQL Programming - Intermediate 

Expand your SQL knowlege. Learn to expand the use of CASE statements, subqueries and window functions. This class will focus on several key functions necessary to filter and categorize information in a relational database and answer complex questions.

PC Troubleshooting & Repair I (Returning Summer 2020)
Learn to diagnose, identify, and repair failing components of personal computers. Topics include diagnostic techniques for identifying hardware and Windows related problems and repair. Learn the techniques used in determining when updates and upgrades are appropriate. This is a hands-on class emphasizing the diagnoses and repair of personal computers. The course does not require a textbook.

 

PC Troubleshooting & Repair II (Returning Summer 2020)
Building on the skills learned PC Troubleshooting and Repair I, this course is designed to teach you common error messages, their meaning and the appropriate course of action. Installing and configuring Windows and basic networking is also discussed. The course examines system analysis, isolation, and problem determination procedures as well as diagnosis of common faults and explains error codes. The course does not require a textbook.

CompTIA A+: A Comprehensive Approach

If you are getting ready for a career as an entry-level information technology (IT) professional or personal computer (PC) service technician, the CompTIA® A+® course is the first step in your preparation. The course will build on your existing user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware to present fundamental skills and concepts that you will use on the job. In this course, you will acquire the essential skills and information you will need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems.

The CompTIA A+ course can benefit you in two ways:   Whether you work or plan to work in a mobile or corporate environment where you have a high level of face-to-face customer interaction, where client communication and client training are important, or in an environment with limited customer interaction and an emphasis on hardware activities, this course provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be a successful A+ technician. It can also assist you if you are preparing to take the CompTIA A+ certification examinations, objectives (exam numbers 220-1001, 220-1002), in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.  Prerequisite: None.

Comp TIA Network+ & Security+ Certification Bundle  2020 schedule coming soon
Certification Exam Target: N10-007 and SYO-501

These courses are intended for entry-level computer support professionals with a basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of networking concepts and acquire the required skills to prepare for a career in network support or administration, or who wish to prepare for the CompTIA Network+ certification. A typical student taking the CompTIA® Network+® (Exam N10-007) course should have a minimum of nine months of professional computer support experience as a PC or help desk technician.

After taking this course, students will understand the field of network security and how it relates to other areas of information technology with the current CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 certification exam. This course also provides the broad-based knowledge necessary to prepare for further study in specialized security fields, or it can serve as a capstone course that introduces the field.

This is a bundled class with both CompTIA Network + and Security + classes. Enrollment in this class includes coverage of both classes and students may not split the courses. Attendance in both classes is required for successful completion. Prerequisite: Networking experience is helpful but not mandatory; A+ certification or equivalent skills and knowledge is helpful but not mandatory.

Certification Exam Target: CompTIA CySA+ CSO-001

Cyber threat detection requires specific training that is currently in high demand in any size organization of any type industry. Today’s job market has openings that requires security analyst skills. This course will be structured toward the CompTia CySA+, CSO-001 exam materials.

CompTIA cybersecurity exam subject matter will be enforced in the classroom and outside of classroom by SME:  Threat Management, Vulnerability Management, Cyber Incident Response, Security Architecture and Tool Sets.

There are no prerequisites for this course, although it is recommended having at least CompTIA Network+, Security+ or equivalent experience.

Hybrid is a combination of Face-to-Face (F2F) and Online learning.  Students must be present the first day of class.

If you are new to computers, you will want to start with an introduction class such as “Introduction to Computers” or “Introduction to Windows 10 and OneDrive.”  Our computer classes are designed for beginners, unless otherwise started, such as Intermediate, Advanced or Professional Computer Technology Certifications.

Unless otherwise noted in the individual course description, a textbook and flash drive are required for each computer training class.  Books may be purchased at the bookstore of the campus where the class is being held prior to the class start date. Here is a link to the GTCC Bookstore.

 

For successful course completion, a student must attend 80% of the class hours.

CEU’s are typically calculated at 10% of the course contact hours. If you are seeking CEU credits, confirm with your licensing issuer if the courses you have chosen meet the needed CEU credit requirement.

Coming Spring 2019 GTCC Pearson VUE Testing Centers will be offering select testing.

GTCC will make a 100% refund of registration fees if you officially withdraw from class before the first class meeting.

GTCC will refund 75% of the registration fee (tuition only) if you officially withdraw from classes on the first day of class or before the class reaches the 10% point. The 10% point varies from class to class.

If a class is canceled or full, GTCC will automatically process a full refund. Refunds are processed on a monthly basis and may take 4 to 6 weeks.

The college refund policy is established by state legislative action and is subject to change without prior notice to students.
